In 1994 Paul Laurent was coming back from California on a business trip and on his car radio, all he heard was the Internet, internet and Internet. Paul's a curious business guy, wanted to know what was the Internet, so coming back to Canada, from California, he stopped off in Chicago, to see if he could find out, what was this Internet thing.
After looking around and finding a little about the Internet, Web Pages, Internet Malls, and the World Wide Web, the WWW was just beginning. So back in Montreal, he contacted firms in the USA that could help him, with this Internet thing. Paul is a inventor and promoter of products, he had just sold a very popular invention of his to a large corporation, that he promoted by TV ads .
So the Internet was on his mind, he found out that you needed a web page, you had to be in a Internet Mall (at the time) and you could sell anything. Paul had been in contact with a manufacture who had made over 100,000 swimming pool alarms, ( and couldn't sell them ) and Paul was thinking of promoting them by TV ads, has he had done with a very successful invention of his in the past by TV.
So, he spend 4000.00 to get a web page made, get in a top Internet Mall and make money, but it's not that easy. He had one good thing, 100% EXCLUSVIVE MARKETING RIGHTS, to a swimming pool alarm, he was the only one with this model, could set the price he wanted, etc. Paul is a pusher, aggressive, curious, promoter, he said there must be something I can do with this thing, the Internet.

So he started to think, what kind of business, he could get for his son. In his home town there was a paper mill, so he taught, I'll go and see, what they make in the line of paper.
